A specimen of the polymorphism of Pelion is the village Trikeri, with all the characteristics of an island dorp. The habitants were fishermen, sponge divers and brave captains, the mansion houses of which are preserved till today and dominate at the narrow cobblestone pavements of the village.

At Trikeri the habitants, are traditionally occupied with the sponge diving. The sponge divers, during the whole year set out to harvest, at the deepness of the sea the precious sponges.
