If you a history buff then a 1.5 hour car drive will bring you to the extraordinary “Meteora” in Kalabaka, where you will witness the magical display of six of the most important complexes of Eastern Orthodox monasteries in Greece suspended high up in the heavens.
If you prefer to stay closer to home then a 45 minute drive can take you to the beautiful and historic village of Macrenezia on the Pilion. However the more adventerous can visit Delphi just 1.5 hrs away. This site was believed to be determined by Zeus when he sought to find the centre of “Gaia” Grandmother Earth. Delphi was also the famed site of the Delphic oracle, the most important oracle in the classical Greek world.
